convertible dress – casual style

In the world of Sandpaper Kisses Blog, convertible dresses are pretty popular. My posts on these types of dresses usually garner the highest or second-highest clicks on the entire blog. So it saddened me that my once red hot convertible dress obsession had fizzed a little.

Why? Mostly because they’re hard to wear at work. They’re sometimes too “dressy” for my office environment and I have very few nice functions to attend. But that’s not really an excuse because you can transform this dress, with a few of the right casual accessories, into its non-soiree equivalent.

And of course since I’m obsessed with denim vests, you’ll be seeing it in this post too. Don’t know what I was doing with my scarf, it looks odd.

Hi all,

Hope you’ve had a great weekend – even though it’s sad that it’s almost monday again ;(

Anyway, I wanted to share an outfit from last week – something very casual and comfortable. Plus, here I am wearing my vest again (it used to be a jacket). What do you think?

how to style a vest part 1: casual weekend

Wanted to wish a happy (late) mother’s day to all the mamas out there!

Today’s post is a reader request. My friend Pam owns a black vest but needed help figuring out how to style it. Because I’m a visual person, I wanted to SHOW my styling ideas for this vest instead of just describing them. I do not own a vest like hers so I used the only vest I have as a substitute.

My idea for this outfit was something casual, easy, comfortable. An outfit that you can wear on the weekend for running errands or thrifting (which is what I like to do, hehe). A white v-neck tee with the vest worn over, a pair of comfortable jeans rolled up a little bit, your favorite shoulder bag or purse, and flats or flip flops.

Check it out and let me know what you think…

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for the next installment in “how to style a vest,” which will be a bit more “dressed up.”

If you had a vest, how would YOU style it? Leave your comments below!

are flared or bootcut jeans still ‘cool’?

Are they? It seems that boyfriend and skinny jeans are currently ruling the fashion roost, but I still like my bootcut jeans. And my thrifted military jacket thing. And I liked how my butt looked in my new ebay jeans.

I remember when ‘flared’ jeans first became cool, it was sometime between 1995 and 1996 and I was in 5th or 6th grade. I was happy to try these flared wonders. Before flared jeans, we wore tapered pants. They were pretty horrible. But trends change so quickly, I feel like I barely have time to enjoy them before they’re swept away and replaced with something new.

Now it’s your turn to chime in…are bootcut jeans still ‘in’ or is wearing considered a fashion faux pas?
