what I spent this month {february budget}

Hey friends, it’s that time again. Time to figure out where I spent my clothes budget. And zip! Another month GONE! I can’t believe how quickly time flies when you’re having fun when you’re super busy. As I said in a previous wishlist post, I really needed some blouses for work. I decided to forego the usual thrifting and actually get what I really need, plus a few extra things that I couldn’t resist.

I really love everything I bought this month and feel like even though I spent a good amount, I got a lot of really great basics that I’ll be getting a lot of wear out of, especially for work.

What I bought in February: LOFT dotty blouse, NYDJ lipstick blouse, NYDJ hearts blouse, LOFT skinny pants, Beija Flor Nicole Jeans, Vintage Coach bag

Here’s what I bought this month:

  1. LOFT Dotted Plaid Utility Blouse, $46 {find it here}
  2. NYDJ Lipstick Love Print 3/4 Sleeve Blouse, on sale at Amazon for $45 {find it here – no longer on sale}
  3. NYDJ Sea of Love  Print 3/4 Sleeve Blouse, on sale at Amazon for $45 {find it here – no longer on sale}
  4. LOFT Essential Skinny Ankle Pants in Julie Fit, $54 {find them here}
  5. Beija Flor Nicole Skinny (dark blue) jeans, used for $28 via eBay {find them here}
  6. Vintage Coach bag, hubby found at estate sale for $35

Not pictured:

  1. Adidas t-shirt, thrifted for $2
  2. Dana Buchman printed blouse, thrifted for $4
  3. Sejour hi-low top, thrifted for $4

Subtotal: $263.00
-$100 blog income
-$30 Amazon gift card {Thanks, Justine!}

TOTAL = $133 … not great but I did buy mostly NEW stuff this month, which is usually not the case for me.

I had $224 left for the quarter…which means I now have $91 left for March. I’m going to try really hard to stay in my budget but I can tell it’s going to be hard because I’m going to visit my mom in California in March and she loves to shop!

Now it’s your turn to spill the beans–what did you buy this month?

pretty tights {workwear wednesday}

I love tights! What makes skirts and dresses wearable during cold winter days? TIGHTS. Colorful tights are a fun way to add a pop of color to any outfit. I think this might be the last time you see tights on my blog because spring will be here soon (I hope).

a little bit of valentines {workwear wednesday}

I really wanted to wear something super cute (preferably with hearts all over or something pink and red) today for this week’s Workwear Wednesday since the theme is Valentine’s day. Unfortunately, I couldn’t figure out any cute mix of pink and red and didn’t have any heart print clothes to share.

So, I went with my old standby, polka dots. Plus I zazzed it up with red tights. Super fun, right? Maybe not. Oh well.

I did end up going to a birthday dinner last night and changed into my new FAVORITE pair of jeans and my heart plastic flats, which I think deserve a special mention here.

workwear wednesday: lady in red

Justine and I are sharing our red looks for this week’s workwear wednesday. You’ll have to excuse my janky selfie, but due to being sick (both me and hubby) and time constraints, this is the only picture I could muster. I also wanted to share my super shiny red manicure. I’ve had gel manicures before but this time was my first time trying some nail art. I have to say, it was definitely not what I was expecting (I was hoping it would look better) but I’m still enjoying the snowflake/star design nonetheless.

Red is a wonderful color, and used to be one of my very favorites. When I went to go pick out my outfit for this week’s post, I was kind of surprised that I have very few red articles of clothing. Most of my clothes are blue and black. So, I decided to go for red dots with this top, which is probably one of my favorite thrifted finds.

I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas already. I’ll admit, because of work, being sick for weeks, and other things, I’ve been completely unprepared this year. I hope all of you are having a great holiday season, no matter what you celebrate. Xoxo

can’t get enough polka dots (and orange cats)

I really really like polka dots. Polka dot blouses, polka dot tees, polka dot skirts – they’re all fabulous and I can’t get enough of them. So, imagine my extreme shock (and excitement) when I found this amazing polka dot blouse at the thrift store. I am completely smitten.

Here I am pairing my lovely dot blouse with a simple stretchy black skirt. This skirt actually used to be a dress. My mom bought it for me as a gift and when the all the elastic in the top part of the dress completely disintegrated, I couldn’t let it go, so I went to a tailor and had him make it into a skirt.

Also, how funny is Ulysses the kitty in these pictures?
